THINGS ARE MOVING TOO SLOWLY. THE MATTER IS IN THE HANDS OF THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, BUT IS APPARENTLY PROGRESSING AT GLACIAL SPEED. WE HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DEMAND IMMEDIATE OUSTER UNDER EXISTING LAWS AND PROVISIONS. YOUR WEBMASTER AND TEN FRIENDS HAVE ALREADY FILED A FORMAL REQUEST FOR SUCH OUSTER ACTION, BUT PROGRESS IS INDISCERNIBLE. MAYBE YOU CAN HELP THINGS ALONG A BIT BY FILLING IN THE FOLLOWING FORM AND SENDING IT TO THE KNOX COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY. IT'S WORTH A TRY!!

HERE'S THE FORMAT:

FORMAL REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE OUSTER OF MAYOR MIKE RAGSDALE

WE SUBMIT THAT AMPLE REASON CURRENTLY EXISTS FOR THE IMMEDIATE OUSTER OF MAYOR RAGSDALE, AND THAT SUCH IMMEDIATE OUSTER IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE.

WE BELIEVE THAT ADEQUATE JUSTIFICATION FOR SUCH TERMINATION RESIDES IN EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING TWO STATUTES ALONE, VIOLATION OF WHICH MAYOR RAGSDALE HAS LITERALLY ADMITTED. ACCORDINGLY, WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT MAYOR MIKE RAGSDALE BE SUMMARILY REMOVED FROM OFFICE AND BOUND OVER FOR ANY RELATED CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS.

[1] Knox County Ordinance O-90-9-122, Section 18 states in part that “Any county official or officer who fails to perform the duties herein or….spends or obligates amounts in excess of the appropriations or who ….approves expenditures for purposes not authorized by appropriations………shall be removed from office or terminated…”

[2] T.C.A. 8-47-103. “Investigation and institution of proceedings. — It is the duty of the attorney general and reporter, the district attorneys general, county attorneys, and city attorneys, within their respective jurisdictions, upon notice being received by them in writing that any officer herein mentioned has been guilty of any of the acts, omissions, or offenses set out in § 8-47-101, forthwith to investigate such complaint; and, if upon investigation such person finds that there is reasonable cause for such complaint, such person shall forthwith institute proceedings in the circuit, chancery, or criminal court of the proper county, to oust such officer from office.
