The Department of Justice has a citizen's hotline for reporting fraud, waste, and abuse. I believe we have more than our share of those commodities locally. Accordingly, I filed a complaint on July 1, 2008 (see below). You can file a similar complaint by clicking the DOJ URL below, and cut-pasting my words (or creating your own) .
(As filed via doj hotline, 7/1/08)
"A complaint has been filed with the District Attorney General in Knoxville Tennessee alleging widespread corruption in the office of the Knox County Mayor. The DA has accepted the complaint and is actively investigating it, focusing on accusations and audit findings of overt violations of the Knox County Code, Tennessee Code Annotated, and other state statutes. There is significant related publicity, and community support for the complaint is widespread. There appears to be ample evidence of violation of state and local laws by the County Mayor.
I have reason to believe that the mayor's misdeeds also apply at the federal level (e.g., possible environmental regulation violations), thus warranting attention of your office. I hereby request that DOJ investigate the Office of the Mayor, Knox County Tennessee for possible corruption. Corroboration and validation may be obtained by contacting Mr. John Gill, Special Counsel, 6TH Judicial District at 865-215-2515 in Knoxville.
I am not a lawyer and have no direct political agenda associated with this matter. I appeal to you only as a concerned private citizen."
